Meet Travis

Travis Van Winkle is an attorney and registered domestic relations mediator. Travis has worked in the Indianapolis legal community for twenty years where he has practiced law since 2003 primarily in the areas of family law and bankruptcy.  Travis has handled various types of family law cases including adoptions, dissolutions (divorce), legal separations, child support, custody, parenting time/visitation, paternity, guardianships, emancipations, domestic partnership/cohabitation, wills, protective orders, grandparent rights, CHINS (child of need of services) and TPR (termination of parental rights).  Travis has also represented clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings as well as informal debt settlements.

Travis understands the emotional burdens faced by his clients. Travis has watched his clients face the emotional highs and lows often experienced by people dealing with family law matters and/or financial difficulties.  He has also seen how mediation can lessen the emotion toll of litigation.  Travis decided to become a mediator with the hope of helping people face their legal issues in a way that affords them more control and a greater sense of satisfaction with the outcome of their legal matter.

Travis is an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Indianapolis Bar Association, and the Hendricks County Bar Association. Travis has been named to the Hall of Fame for the Indianapolis Bar Association and has been named a Super Lawyer/Rising Star by Law and Politics Magazine. Travis was also named one of the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys in Indiana Under 40 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys.  In addition to Travis’ efforts in the legal community, he is actively involved with various legal and civic organizations. He is involved with his son in Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts of America where he has been a Den Leader and a Cub Master.

Travis also enjoys spending time away from his work and volunteer efforts with his wife and two children. They enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, gardening, scouting, deep sea fishing and drag racing.
